Fellowships

Alfred Benzon Post-doctoral Fellowships

Post-doctoral fellowships are given to younger Danish scientists, who wish to conduct research in medical and pharmaceutical sciences and related sciences at a university or other academic research institution abroad for a period of up to three years. The applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree or have equivalent qualifications.

The fellowship consists of a travel grant (currently DKK 350,000/year and 425,000 for fellows traveling with child/children) for a maximum of three years. Travel expenses for the fellow and any accompanying family members will be refunded upon specific application for a maximum of DKK 50,000. Furthermore, the fellowship includes a yearly grant (currently DKK 25,000/year) for running costs and other project related activities.

The fellowships are given for projects of one year (minimum) to three (maximum) years duration, but the foundation prefers to fund projects of three years duration. For tax exemption, fellowships are granted for only one year.  An applicant who has been granted the first year of two or three years fellowship must therefore normally apply for an extension by the end of each project year.

The opening round starts on April 1st 2018. Deadline for applications: May 1st 2018.
